My Fifth Blog Post

Looking forward to my first appearance at the Blackpool Convention. I do have fond memories of working at FISM Blackpool but this will be my first time at the annual Blackpool convention. Besides hosting a one-hour show with some very talented friends, I’ll be giving a lecture on the history of Sawing A Lady in Half, based on my recently published book SAWING. I have made some amazing discoveries since publication so you can expect some surprises.

I’ve been hard at work on a new book called The Final Conference Illusions. It is the perfect companion to my 2013 book The Conference Illusions as it is a detailed description of the three antique illusions I presented at the final Los Angeles Magic History Conferences; Carter the Great’s Spirit Cabinet, Rooklyn’s Birth of the Pearl illusion, and John Daniel’s version of the Thin-model Sawing a Lady in Half.

This book also serves as a perfect companion to my Sawing book because the chapters on John Daniel’s Thin Sawing and Virgil’s Thin Sawing contain a ton of previously unpublished photographs and information. There is also a brand new chapter on Walter Blaney’s unique version of the Thin Sawing. Plus a biography of Turkey’s most famous magician, and the inventor of the Thin-model Sawing illusion, Zati Sungur, illustrated with dozens of previously unpublished photographs. I expect to have finished copies in four or five months so watch this space.
