6 laminated Folders
During the hot summer months, when vaudeville theaters were closed, lyceum circuits would present shows in town halls and a week of Chautauqua shows would be presented under canvas in small towns across America. For many rural families, this, and perhaps a circus, would be the only entertainment that would come through their area during the entire year. Offered here are six brochure folders that were used by performers that appeared in these popular fields of entertainment.
Loring Campbell - This Lyceum folder contains many action photos of Loring and Kathryne Campbell presenting many forms of entertainment. Hand-written inside, “Monday February 10, 1936”. The front cover shows some damage at the corners, otherwise good overall condition. Plastic laminated.
James Kater - This Lyceum and Chautauqua folder is filled with photos of Kater performing sleight-of-hand and and array of apparatus effects. The top front margin carries a sticker that says “Kater Thompson” which was James Kater’s real name, and hand-written in the bottom margin is “CA 1919”. Plastic laminated in good condition.
Herman Homar - Hand-written on the front margin “CA 1922”. On the back cover it has been signed and inscribed by Homar to collector David Price. Plastic laminated in very good condition.
Frye & Company - Typed in the top front margin is this performer’s real name “William Eugene Frye” and hand-written CA 1928. Photos inside feature a fabulous array of what is today antique magic apparatus. Plastic laminated in very good condition.
Hal Merton - Promised an act of sophisticated magic and hilarious ventriloquism. From New York City, Merton appeared annually on the Lyceum and Chautauqua circuits. Plastic laminated in good condition.
